Last Mile Entrepreneurs: Building a Sustainable Future in Elgeyo Marakwet County

We are thrilled to announce that Keiyo Women Trust, in collaboration with GIZ, has made significant progress in the Last Mile Entrepreneurs project. As we reach the halfway mark, we are excited to share the achievements and impact we have made in Elgeyo Marakwet County thus far.Since the project’s inception, we have successfully constructed and distributed 20 Jiko Kisasa cooking stoves to vulnerable families within Marakwet East, Marakwet West, Keiyo South, and Keiyo North sub-counties. These stoves have already begun to make a positive difference in the lives of the beneficiaries. Families now enjoy the benefits of efficient cooking, reduced energy consumption, and improved indoor air quality.
To ensure the sustainability of the project and its long-term impact, we have conducted comprehensive training sessions for 20 individuals from each sub-county. These dedicated participants have been equipped with essential entrepreneurship skills, project management knowledge, and technical expertise in maintaining and building Jiko Kisasa stoves. They are now actively engaged in implementing the initiative in their communities, becoming change agents and catalysts for economic development.
Throughout the Last Mile Entrepreneurs project, we have been overwhelmed by the support and enthusiasm of the local community. Witnessing the positive transformation and understanding the environmental benefits of Jiko Kisasa stoves, more families have shown interest in adopting these energy-efficient cooking solutions. As the project gains momentum, we anticipate an even greater impact on energy conservation and improved livelihoods.
As climate change remains a pressing global issue, we recognize the vital role of sustainable practices in combatting its effects. With each Jiko Kisasa stove replacing traditional cooking methods, we contribute to the preservation of the environment, mitigating deforestation and reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions. The project aligns with our commitment to creating a cleaner, greener future for Elgeyo Marakwet County and beyond.
With immense gratitude to our partners, supporters, and the local community, Keiyo Women Trust and GIZ remain dedicated to the successful completion of the Last Mile Entrepreneurs project. As we continue our journey towards positive change and empowerment, we invite you to be a part of our endeavor. Together, we can create lasting impact, uplift lives, and inspire sustainable development in EMC County.
